For leaders who want to create meaningful success
One of the things I enjoy most about working with young and emerging leaders is their desire to reach big goals in terms of financial success or similar, plus making a real difference in our world at the same time.
It’s wonderful to see our next generation of leaders intentionally making choices for their own success, for their people and our society… but along the way this intense focus on getting it all right can let to frustration, burnout and sometimes disillusionment and giving up on their cause.
So how can we avoid the sad ending of burnout & disillusionment and ensure we reach our success and fulfillment?
It’s about creating a winning leadership formula that is just right for you – tailored to your needs, values and beliefs, designed to achieve massive outcomes through conscious leadership and giving back to your team and society, and ensuring along the way that all our people and our beautiful big blue planet is looked after as the profits roll in.
Sound like a dream right?
But we have plenty examples of leaders employing their version of the triple win formula, you may have heard of a couple of them: Oprah, Martin Luther King, Richard Branson, Keanu Reeves, Bill & Melinda Gates, Tony Robins, and so many more.
The leaders have taken the time to discover their own unique formula, their own interpretation, but ultimately they all function in a very similar way.
The first thing they do is take a long hard look at themselves.
What do they want? What do they need? What is their big ambition or wildest desire? What is their vision, or their message?
What do they have to do to achieve these outcomes? What do they have change, remove or grow?
These leaders know that they need to look after their bodies, as the vehicle to get their message across. They constantly work on their mindset and maintain a keen focus on their goals. They know that living in alignment with their values, meeting their purpose and living a life of gratitude is the heart and soul of their quest.
To achieve their massive outcomes, these leaders know they need a team, a community or tribe.
They know that to create the greatest impact and achieve the level of success they have set for themselves, they need to be the best leader they can be. They discover what others have done before them, modelling and refining winning behaviours and attitudes.
Successful leaders know their teams are the ones who activate the massive outcomes, they are the ones who do the actual tasks to ensure the message or vision is broadcast.
Conscious leaders create diverse teams of highly skilled individuals and inspire them to do their best work.
Successful leaders know it's people that makes the outcomes possible, so they surround themselves with the best people possible – in their intimate and business relationships. They take time to nurture, to recognise and generously invest in their people. They build deep connection, are present, open and have full belief in the people around them.
By effectively leading a passionate group of people, our leaders can make even greater impact on society, the positive amplification of their vision or message is transmitted loud and clear by the people who have had personal experience with the leader.
Successful leaders know the real win is not just being busy and raking in the profits.
Excellent leaders know true success is measured in relationships, viable and sustainable profit and the footprints we leave on our planet.
It is often this last element, or last ring on our leadership target that we miss. We get so busy being the best leaders we can be, giving everything to our team and donate to our community that we completely miss the big pay offs.
How do we implement the Triple Winning Formula?
The Triple Winning Formula is a holistic approach to leadership that creates meaningful success. It's based on three interconnected and symbiotic key areas—EMPOWER, INFLUENCE, and INSPIRE—creating a balance of personal growth, strong team leadership, and meaningful contributions to society.
Self-Awareness and Personal Growth:
Leaders need to have a deep understanding of themselves. This includes our desires, needs and ambitions. By knowing what drives us and where we want to make an impact, we can better align our actions with our values and goals.
Continuous personal development is crucial—this encompasses physical well-being, mental resilience, and emotional intelligence. Leaders like Martin Luther King and Oprah Winfrey have been great role models for us by aligning their personal values with their actions, which in turn fueled their enduring influence.
Taking a good hard look at ourselves can be uncomfortable, I get it, but the outcomes are so worthwhile. Below are a few questions to get started, you may also like to download my FREE RESOURCE. note ~ 'growth' doesn't happen in one sitting, this takes time, gently nurture your development.
What are your core values, and how do they influence your daily decisions and leadership style?
How do you currently invest in your physical well-being, mental resilience, and emotional intelligence? What areas need more focus?
Reflecting on your personal ambitions, how can you better align your actions with your long-term goals and vision? Whats one small thing you can do today to get closer to your goals?
Leadership and Team Building:
The second element involves recognising that no leader achieves anything alone. The capacity to build, motivate, and nurture a team is fundamental. This means selecting the right people, cultivating a community or tribe, and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.
Effective leadership requires being a role model, continuously learning from past successes (both your own and others'), and adapting those lessons to your unique context. Leaders like Richard Branson and Tony Robbins demonstrate this by creating cultures where team members feel valued and empowered to contribute to shared goals.
Before you throw your hands up and roll your eyes, I get that you may not be leading a multi-million dollar company. Leadership doesn't require big business, it can be in your own home, your community (soccer mums I'm looking at you), it could be the way you behave when you do the shopping. We have leadership opportunities all around us, you can practice these techniques no matter what size, age or organisation you are in.
How do you currently select and motivate your team members to ensure they align with your organisation’s values and goals?
In what ways do you build a community or tribe within your team, and how can you improve this environment to support everyone’s growth?
What past successes (your own or others’) can you learn from to adapt and enhance your leadership approach?
Sustainable Impact and Legacy:
Finally, true success extends beyond individual or immediate team achievements. It involves making a lasting, positive impact on society and the environment. This requires leaders to think long-term, prioritising sustainable practices and making decisions that benefit not only their organisations but also the wider community and future generations.
Leaders such as the Gates and Keanu Reeves have invested in initiatives that provide ongoing benefits, from global health improvements to environmental conservation.
You don't need mega millions to make lasting change. Investment can be time, skills, energy. The key here is about making sustainable decisions for positive impact, inspiring your team to be their best which flows out into our community and society as a whole.
What long-term goals have you set for your organisation that contribute to a lasting, positive impact on society and the environment?
How do you prioritise sustainable practices in your decision-making processes, and what additional steps can you take to benefit the wider community?
